Budget Trip to Kinnaur For 6D and 7N

Everybody knows that Kinnaur is the Leh-Ladakh of Himachal Pradesh. Its rocky brown mountains, high passes, and beautiful villages and meadows make it exquisite. but No so many people are aware of this travel destination which another amazing point. It is counted in less crowded places however some people reckon it as a step ahead in the terms of everything than Ladakh. So let’s make an itinerary of this place in the budget so you can enjoy a trip over there. But Another fascinating thing is that the most adventurous and dangerous roads are present in Kinnaur. As I mentioned I have a special route in which you will also cover Shimla and Kufri. It is a vast cold desert of Himachal Pradesh. From now onwards we will discuss everything day-wise. let’s begin.

Transportation cost to Shimla and Kinnaur

By Train:- First of all departure point is new Delhi. From Delhi, you can easily get a number of trains to Kalka. As there is no direct train between Delhi and Shimla. So thereafter from Kalka, you have to change your train from Kalka to Shimla which would be a toy train. although it would be slower all the scenes you will get to see would be amazing in Train and it also announced as a world heritage site by UNESCO. From there you have to switch your mode of transportation and get on the bus from Shimla to Reckong Peo. From Simla, there is no train to Reckong Peo So you will have to take the bus only.

By Bus:- In Bus it will charge you around 550/- Rs from Delhi to direct Shimla. From Shimla, you can follow as same as in train bus route give above. But I will suggest you go up till Shimla by train if you really want to enjoy the trip as that train passes through a number of tunnels and over a number of bridges.

Food and Meal Cost

Hence as we are a budget trip planner so I am not going to share about expensive food and all. Listen, You can easily manage your one-day meal under 200/- Rs. Even there is a Gurudwara Sahib in Kalpa where you can eat langar too. Another thing is that Dhabas are everywhere in mountain areas where one can have cheap meals.

Kinnaur Day-wise itinerary

Day 1

Guys your first day will pass in train or bus as the distance from Delhi to Shimla is around 347 km by bus and around 630 km by train. So in both mode of transportation it will take 12 hours in bus and 23 hours in train. But in train it will be unforgettable ride for you. So i will suggest you to bring some snack with you as it will be required while you in train.

Day 2

So your day 2 will be in Shimla. It would be a fresh start to your trip. Shimla is also known as the queen of hills. Shimla is a famous place for couples. You can go in any season. It is connected by all means of transportation. In Shimla to your overall cost of food and stay will be 500. Around 250 Rs of local cabs and taxis to visit local places in Shimla. Local sights to visit in Shimla:-

• Mall Road:- famous open and wide area to roam around and click some snaps
• Christ Church: – Very old and historical church in Shimla on mall road
• Green Valley:- A valley in between Shimla and Kufri, covered with lush green trees of deodar and pine.
• Jakhoo Hill and Temple:- A religious place
• Kufri:- A place where you can enjoy and winter sports and the elevation of the Kufri is 2500 meters.

Day 3

So in the early morning, you have to take a bus from Shimla to Reckong Peo. The distance between Shimla and Reckong Peo is 225 km. An ordinary bus will take you around 10 hours to reach Reckong peo from Shimla. Amazing thing is that the bus stand of Reckong Peo is located at an amazing location. I am not revealing it here see by yourself when you will have been there. You will arrive in evening at reckong peo so you can visit local market and moenstaries there. Reckong peo is located in the heart of snow covered mountains. You will easily get homestays and hotels under 500/- Rs per day in reckong peo. And add 200 Rs of food cost.

Day 4

After taking a rest and visiting the Reckong peo pack your bags to visit Kalpa village. It is a fully clean and in the lap of the nature. Lot of temples and monasteries are there in Kalpa. You can also visit orchid and apple gardens and suicide point of Kinnaur. After spending a day in Kinnaur you will have to go back to your homestay and hotel. local transportation will cost you around 50 Rs. for Kalpa points. and 500 Rs for your food and Stay.

Day 5

So in day 5 you have to take bus from Reckong peo to Sangla which will cost you around 50 Rs . Arriving at Sangla you can visit local temples and kinnauri culture. thereafter you can move to chitkul the last village of Kinnaur which is close to Tibet border . From Sangla to Chitkul it will cost you the same 50 Rs/-. In Chitkul the homestays will cost you around 350 per day. There is famous historical locations too in Chitkul.

Tips and Suggestions

1. Try to withdraw your cash at Shimla because in Kinnaur you will not get enough ATMS and maybe they will out of money.
2. Bring your winter clothes because it is too cold in Kinnaur as it is located at high elevation.
3. Always Ask for buses schedule since the frequency and timing of buses at Kalpa , Reckong Peo and Chitkul varies. therefore always ask one day before about bus schedule for your next destinations
4. Bring some food with you , because there are some routes which takes more than 8 hours of bus ride. Thus you can be hungry. It is better to carry some snacks in your bag.

Overall Cost of Shimla Kinnaur Trip

Transportation Cost :- Around 1400 in Train of Two-way Journey from delhi to Kinnaur. On the other side it will cost you around 2000/- From Delhi to Kinnaur by Bus.

Day 2 Cost:- 800/- Rs in Shimla including everything

Day 3 cost:- 700/ Rs in Reckong Peo and including food of Day 3

Day 4 Cost:- 500/- Rs in Kalpa

Day 5 Cost:- 700/- Rs in Sangla and chitkul including local taxi, food and stay

Day 6 cost:- only of food 200/- Rs

For souvenir and in case of emergency:- 700

Total Cost :- 1400+800+700+500+700+200+700 = 5000/-
