Uttarakhand is known for its religious places and temples like Kedarnath, Badrinath, and many more. It is a tad different from Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. Uttarakhand and all its destinations are in dense forests. Talking about Haridwar and Rishikesh even I don’t need to say a word as these are known to everyone. Even some of the Highest known mountains are found in Uttrakhand. Uttrakhand is a state which boarded to Tibet-China region. Even the connectivity with the most amazing hill station to Delhi is quite well. All the nearest hill stations found in the Uttrakhand region. So to enjoy the beauty of Uttrakhand I am going to share a wonderful budget itinerary with you.

Transportation cost to Mussorie, Rishikesh and Tehri lake

By Train:- As earlier, the departure point is New Delhi. From Delhi, you will get easily so many trains to Haridwar Railway Station. You can also take the train to Dehradun. Beside these, both railway stations are nearest to the magnificent hill stations of Uttarakhand. After spending a Day in Haridwar you can move to Rishikesh by bus which will not cost much. Rishikesh is famous for YOGA studying. Thereafter visiting Rishikesh you can move to Mussoorie. Afterward, the next point is where you will have to take a bus is Dhanaulti a small town. However, the main beauty is the Tehri lake where your whole trip will finally go over. Let’s see all the fare and modes of transportation.

By Bus :- When it comes to travel by bus you have plethora of option to travel on these spots. You can even opt a direct bus from Delhi to Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun. From Delhi to direct Mussoorie an Ordinary bus will cost you around 360/- Rs but in this you will kiss Haridwar and Rishikesh. A bus from Delhi to Haridwar will cost you 260/- Rs.

Food and Meal Cost

Hence as we are a budget trip planner so I am not going to share about expensive food and all. Listen, You can easily manage your one-day meal under 200/- Rs. Even there is a Gurudwara Sahib in Rishikesh and Mussoorie where you can eat langar too. Another thing is that Dhabas are everywhere in mountain areas where one can have cheap meals. Talking about Uttarakhand in their food is cheaper as compared to Himachal Pradesh.

Mussoorie Tehri Rishikesh day wise itinerary

So here I am going to start our first day in Haridwar Directly. Departure from New Delhi at night and in the early morning you will arrive at Haridwar either by bus or train.

Day 1

Everybody knows how sacred Haridwar is. It is a place of so many temples. You can take bath in the holy Ganga. It is the ancient city of India. It is also famous for its religious events and festivals. It is the place where the Ganga river comes down to the plains. In Haridwar, there are so many hostels where you can stay under 200/- Rs and also enjoy Bhandara there. So here are some local places to visit in Haridwar: –

  • Vishnu Ghat:- It is the historical place where lord Vishnu had taken bath. So holy place this is.
  • Pawan Dham:- It is Haridwar’s main ancient temple decorated with beautiful statues.
  • Gau Ghat:- It is a place which relieves you from the sin of cow murder.
  • Chandi Devi Temple:- This the sacred temple of Mata Chandi located at the peak of the mountain.
  • Har Ki Pauri: – It is the great place where people worship the gods and also It is the place where the Kumbha fair organized after every 12 years.

Day 2

Rishikesh famous all over the world due to the birthplace of Yoga. It is also known as Dev Bhoomi in India. Rishikesh is quite famous for its river rafting in the Ganga River. It is a town located in lush green mountains at the bank of Ganga. Even some famous ayurvedic medicine companies are here. In Rishikesh, there is the famous Gurudwara Sahib of Rishikesh where you can stay and enjoy langar totally free of cost. However, hotels and hostel will cost you between 150/- to 600/- Rs Local sites in Rishikesh are :-

  • Neergarh Fall:- It is a natural fall located at Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway. It is located 6 Km from Lachman Jhoola.
  • Jumping Heights:- It is a recreational place where you can enjoy Bungee Jumping, Long Swing and Ropeways.
  • Triveni Ghat:- It is a place where three renowned rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Sarasvati mix with each other. Another amazing thing is evening pooja and aarti which is so soothing and relaxing.
  • Ram Jhoola and Lakshman Jhoola: – Amazing suspension bridges to feel and enjoy the Ganga River and calming valley of Rishikesh.

Day 3

Your 3rd day will be in Mussoorie. As I already mentioned the distance between Mussorie and Dehradun. Sorry to say but there is no direct bus from Rishikesh to Mussoorie. Therefore you will have to go to Dehradun. From Dehradun outside of the railway station, you will get easily so many buses. You can also ask locals for the proper timing of the bus. so it would be better to leave Rishikesh as early as possible. In Mussoorie, there are a lot of tourist spots where you can visit. In Mussoorie, there is again one beautiful Gurudwara Dharamshala which cost you 100/- Rs per person. Local sights in Mussoorie are:-

  • Mall road, Spring road, and camelback road:- These are the special markets and roads where you can roam around and shop. There are some photo spots too.
  • Parkash Sheshvar Mahadev Mandir :- It is great ancient Lord Shiva Mandir. It is a wonderful place on mall road.
  • Mussoorie Lake:- It is another famous lake in Mussoorie which is located 6.5 km away from Mussoorie. you can hire a taxi and Auto to visit there which will cost you 30-40 Rs /-. At this place, you can enjoy Boating and other adventure activities.
  • Gun Hill:- It is one of the places where you enjoy the great view of the doon valley.
  • George Everest:- It is a point situated at height and 5Km away from Mussoorie. Here you can do camping and picnic.
  • Kempty Fall:- I would say skip any other place in Manali but never dare to skip this beautiful spot. It is located 18 km away from Mussoorie and Bus will cost you 40/- of one way to this fall.

Day 4

Even due to number of local sights in Mussoorie your half 4th day will be gone at Mussoorie. After that you can move to Dhanaulti place which is around 42 km away from Mussoorie. Dhanaulti is at higher altitude than Mussoorie. Even in winter you can enjoy snow activities there. In Dhanaulti the hotel rooms will cost bit higher than Mussoorie and it depends on seasons too. An average hotel room will cost you around 800/- Rs. Places to visit in Dhanaulti are:-

  • Eco Park :- This is the recreational park where you can enjoy some fun activities. The ticket of this Park is 50/- Rs per person.
  • Sarkunda Devi Temple:- it is at some distance from Dhanaulti and even you will have to trek 2 km up to the temple. But this trek worth the view which you will see there.
  • Deogarh Fort: – To freshing the history up, you should definitely visit this place once in a lifetime.

Day 5

Well after experiencing and enjoying the Dhanaulti you can go to Tehri lake and Tehri Dam by Chamba. Unfortunately, there is no bus run from Dhanaulti to Tehri. However, you can hire a private or shared taxi which will cost you around 800/- So if there is a group of 4 people then just 200/- per person. In tehri you can even stay in floating houses in the lake but it will cost you arm and leg. Better to live in hotels in New Tehri which will cost you around 500/- Rs. Tehri is really a great place to do adventure and prewedding shot.Tehri lake adventures activities:-

Overall Cost

Transportation Cost:- It would cost you around 1200/- of two-way journey on all destinations from Delhi. You can do the math from the given table in the Transportation section.

Food and meal:- Just assume it 1000 Rs/- for 5 days as if add 200/- food expenditure per day. But if you budget it by eating in Langar’s and Bhandaras then it could be reduced to 600/- Rs.

Accommodation Cost: – In the terms of Stay in hotels it will also cost you 250/- rs if you have a group of two. However, it can be minimized to 100/-Rs if more people in your group. So just assume it 1250 Rs/- for 5 days.

Activities in tehri:- Now it depends upon you how much money you can invest in lake activities in Tehri. Just for now, we include one activity of cost of 300/-

Total by an average of everything:- 1250 + 1000 +1250 = 3500/- Rs if we count everything in excess and in solo or duo trip. But in the group of 4 people, it can be managed under 3000/- Rs.
