The best Time to Visit Gangtok is September to February as there is not much rust and it would be cheaper in this season. To visit the local sights and other tourist spots, I would suggest you book a taxi, shared cab or Volvo. these services offer ease to visit these places. To book any of these go to MG road where you can find so many agents. I would cover this in a Day-wise itinerary.

Food and Meal cost in Gangtok Sikkim

See guys our blog is for budget travelers so I guess you know very well how to manage your expedition under budget. It is very simple, just avoid eating expensive food and always look for dhabas. However, talking about Sikkim a full meal thali will cost you around 100-150 Rs. Having two thalis in the morning and at night will cost you around 240/- Rs. Whereas the remaining 60/- Rs you can spend on eating snacks in the afternoon.

Accommodation Cost in Gangtok

As I said earlier this whole trip plan is for a group trip So an average hotel room will cost you around 800/- Rs. If there are 3 people in the group then it would charge you around 266 Rs per person. So the longer you stay in Gangtok your expense will rise according to it. However, one-two days are sufficient to visit entire places of Gangtok city. A further cost of your stay will be covered in the packages that you will book for you to visit the furthest places from Gangtok. MG road is the best option to book a hotel around.

Day-wise itinerary Of Gangtok Trip

Day 1 locally At Gangtok

On Day 1 in Gangtok, you would reach there in the evening so you would take a rest and roam around the MG road. Also, book your shared taxi to cover the wonders of Local Gangtok.

Day 2 Gangtok

On day 2, you will cover the local sightseeing in a shared taxi. The booked taxi will cost you around 2000/- Rs and around 500/- Rs per head. You can cut it down if you have good bargaining skills. This booked taxi would take you to 7 beautiful spots of Gangtok and after completing your route it will drop you again at MG Road. The Seven places are:-

  • Ban Jhakri Waterfalls :- It is the place which holds the scenic beauty of Sikkim.
  • Seven Sister waterfalls :- This is the another waterfall which flows in 7 different sections. In the monsoon season it gives a treat to eyes.
  • Romtek Monastery :- It is a Buddhist Monastery and painted with different colors in the lap of nature.
  • Ganeshtok :- It is a sacred temple of god Ganesha. It is a peaceful place.
  • Tashi View Point :- It is a place where on can take the view of highest mountain Kanchenjunga.
  • Hanuman Tok :- This is one another temple of Sri Hanuman Ji. you can see Kanchenjunga mountain from here as well.
  • Ropeway :- It will cost you around 110/- Rs and it will bring you over the Gangtok city.

Day 3 Nathula Pass, Changu Lake and Temple of Baba Harbhajan Singh

On day 3rd of the trip book a shared taxi or cab from MG marg road. A shared taxi would cost you 500-800/- Rs including permit Cost. This taxi will cover all these wonderful places and again drop you back on MG marg. The distance between Gangtok and these tourist spots is around 60 KM. Moreover, you have to stay in Gangtok in the evening to make your 4th-day trip.

Day 4 Lachung

Well, The distance between Gangtok and Lachung is around 120 KM. It would take around 8-9 hours to reach Lachung. As there are several waterfalls, bridges, and beautiful sights are present on the route from Gangtok to lachung. Lachung is a wonderful hill station in northeastern Sikkim. In lachung, you can live different cultures and celebrate your joy. Since it is very close to Yumthang Valley that is why it is quite popular among tourists. There are also some famous monasteries which one can visit.

Day 5 Yumthang Valley, Zero point

On the next day in the early morning go to visit a beautiful flower valley of Yumthang. It is 50 km away from Lachung. It is the best place for photography. When you leave Lachung For Yumthang valley then must take a snowsuit on rent and it will cost you around 200 Rs/-. After having full fun and enjoy in Yumthang Valley go to Zero points. It is 30 km far further from the Yumthang valley. It is a place that remained covered with ice throughout the year. Here you can perform so many snow activities. Visiting all these places then return to Lachung.

Day 6 Lachen and Gurudongmar lake

This would be the last day of your trip. The distance between Lachung and Lachen is around 47 Km. In between son jour at chungthang, it is another beautiful place. In Lachen, there is a Singhik View Point where you can the glaciers and Kanchenjunga mountains. There are also so many magnificent waterfalls in Lachen. Then later go to visit Gurudongmar lake from Lachen. It is one of the highest lakes in the world and it is quite popular. It is located at 5000 M in height. After visiting this place get back to Gangtok. the distance between Gurudongmar lake and Gangtok is around 200 KM.

well, I would suggest you book a 3-4 days package from MG road which includes a stay and food. Such a package will cover all these wonderful places Lachung, Yumthang Valley, Zero Point, Lachen, and Gurudongmar Lake. this package would cost you around 5000-7000/-
